    What Is a Home Energy Audit?

    An energy audit or home energy assessment is a room-by-room inspection and evaluation of how well a home uses energy and it can help homeowners determine where their home is wasting energy. They will use proven diagnostic methods like a blower door test and a thermographic scan.

    What Can You Expect From an Energy Audit?

    During a blower door test, the inspector will close all of the windows and doors in your home and use a powerful fan to remove the indoor air. This lowers the air pressure. This test will reveal which areas of your home has drafts, air infiltration or heat loss. A calibrated blower door test will reveal how much potential energy these air leaks waste. A thermographic scan measures the coverage and effectiveness of your home’s insulation. Based on its results, the inspector can recommend where to add new insulation.
